It would be important to understand where Bengal Tools Limited comes from to comprehend where it is headed. The Company went into business in the Sixties through the manufacture of tools, dies, jigs and fixtures to address the growing opportunities in eastern India, then the hub of India's engineering sector. By the Seventies, the Company had extended to the manufacture of industrial knives and shearing blades to replace the legacy application of gas cutting, enhancing the precision of applications in the country's railways, Defence, paper, plywood and ordnance sectors.Concurrently, a growing supply to the country's ordnance sector resulted in the Company seeking DRDO certification and indigenizing imports through the manufacture of field engineering equipments like mat ground surfacing, mechanical mine layers, portable shelters and asphalt track ways through a highly specialized and competent design team.A few years later, the Company leveraged this rich engineering insight and extended to the design, engineering,manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the bulk material handling conveyor system to progressively replace the proportion of labour with appropriate mechanization leading to lower costs and enhanced mine safety. Foreseeing encouraging opportunities in other business segments, the Company forayed into the lucrative agri-equipment business as well as the ship construction and repair business in the following years. By combining its resident knowledge of material transportation for the coke manufacturing industry and engineering knowledge, the Company entered a new business in 2007 - coal and chemical management, which enabled downstream coke manufacturers to segregate and market precious waste gases derived as by-products from the coke manufacturing process. Moreover, the Company leveraged its rich industry insight and embarked on the manufacture of niche thermal power plant accessories, riding the attractive growth arising from this industry segment. A company that entered one business space in 1965 is present across six business spaces in 2010. Besides, the Company acquired the erstwhile unit of APV Texmaco (now Bengal Tools Ltd) focusing more on turnkey responsibilities. In doing so, a company that started off as a modest engineering manufacturing unit in the mid Sixties, has evolved into a specialized engineering solutions provider, leveraging its near-fifty year engineering expertise. During this long journey of over four decades, the Company has emerged as a respected light-to-medium engineering organisation engaged in the turnkey management of material handling and coal-chemical projects on the one hand as well as a company evolving from a principal focus on jobbing to a growing proportion of turnkey projects management, on the other. Going ahead, we expect to graduate from jobbing and turnkey projects to EPC assignments, enhancing our contract sizes, strengthening our brand and emerging as one of the fastest-growing engineering companies in India.

The company possesses the infrastructure to support its growth. Its facility (250000 Sq ft. of covered manufacturing space in Dum Dum and 125000 Sq ft. in Durgapur) and skilled work force of 700 across its Engineering and Agro Division will catalyze business growth beyond and concurrent presence across 8-10 sites. The Company acquired the erstwhile unit of APV Texmaco (now Bengal Tools Limited) in the year 2008. Besides Bengal Cylinder & Containers Pvt. Ltd., based at Durgapur merged with Bengal Tools Limited, in the year 2009. Bengal tools developed technical expertise with in-house design and engineering to manufacture Pressure Vessels, Tubular Type Heat Exchangers, Distillation Columns for Oil & Refineries, Chemical, Pharmaceuticals Industries. BTL is executing turnkey contract of Material Handling Plants, Coal Chemical By-product Plant of Coke-oven Gas and Equipment like Primary Gas Coolers, Mechanical Decanters, Final Gas Coolers, Saturators and Scrubbers for Gas Condensation, Naphthalene Scrubbing, Ammonium Sulphate and Benzol Recovery Units for Steel Plants. It stretched its technical expertise and manufacturing capability to fabricate Mechanical Components of Electric Arc Furnace, Bloom Caster, Technological and Infrastructure Steel Structures and Ship Repair Job. Bengal Tools possesses in-house R & D and Quality Assurance teams under stringent quality control guidelines, testing provisions and instruments. The company is managed by qualified highly experienced professionals.

Bengal Tools has an annual capacity of 1500 metric tons. The major facilities include:

b) Semiautomatic Welding sets, Welding Generators, Arc Welding Transformers, Plasma Cutting Tig Welding sets Model PLA. TIH-400 and Argon Welding Set 450 amps. 5 KVA.
c) Ball Press - Batliboi 650 mm. Table Size 920 x 134 mm.
d) Guillotine Shearing Machine: 48" X 5/32" thk. Capacity fitted with Motor 7.5 HP star GMS - 48/2.
e) Plate Bending machine - 1/2 X 5' - 0" Cap comprising of 3 rollers, stands, cables and gears.
f) Godrej Press Brake 80 ton cap 800 X 3000 mm Model No. GB - 80.
g) Power Press with roll feed attachment: 20 Tons and 10 Tons.
h) Anti Corrosive treatment equipment.

In addition to above other necessary facilities are available with BTL to satisfy the customers in terms of quick delivery of quality baskets at competitive prices.

All sorts of precision measuring instruments such as Micrometer, Dial Bore Gauge, Height Gauge with dial attachment, slip gauge set, dial indicator, surface plates 13' long etc., in number, more than 100.

BTL also adopts stage and final inspection for each and every job maintaining necessary record sheets.

BTL believes in retaining customers and building long-term relationships. Key to this success is Quality Assurance Plan, put in its proper perspective and diligently followed. Raw materials come from quality conscious and major Steel Plants along with manufacturer's Test Certificates. Besides, material samples cut in the factory are tested in-house as well as by the recognized Test Houses. During manufacture, in-process and final inspection is carried out to check profiles by BTL Quality Assurance Engineers. Later inspected Baskets are offered for final inspection to Customers' Engineers and / or by their appointed inspection Agencies.

The procedure welcomes third party inspection agencies like Lloyds, Bureau Veritas, SGS etc. It is an established practice with BTL to submit Quality Plan to its Customers for approval. BTL has in-house testing facilities to conduct thermal and flow tests. Quality is the hallmark of all BTL Products.
