 It would be important to understand where Bengal Tools Limited comes from to comprehend where it is headed. The Company went into business in the Sixties through the manufacture of tools, dies, jigs and fixtures to address the growing opportunities in eastern India, then the hub of India's engineering sector. By the Seventies, the Company had extended to the manufacture of industrial knives and shearing blades to replace the legacy application of gas cutting, enhancing the precision of applications in the country's railways, Defence, paper, plywood and ordnance sectors.Concurrently, a growing supply to the country's ordnance sector resulted in the Company seeking DRDO certification and indigenizing imports through the manufacture of field engineering equipments like mat ground surfacing, mechanical mine layers, portable shelters and asphalt track ways through a highly specialized and competent design team.A few years later, the Company leveraged this rich engineering insight and extended to the design, engineering,manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the bulk material handling conveyor system to progressively replace the proportion of labour with appropriate mechanization leading to lower costs and enhanced mine safety. Foreseeing encouraging opportunities in other business segments, the Company forayed into the lucrative agri-equipment business as well as the ship construction and repair business in the following years. By combining its resident knowledge of material transportation for the coke manufacturing industry and engineering knowledge, the Company entered a new business in 2007 - coal and chemical management, which enabled downstream coke manufacturers to segregate and market precious waste gases derived as by-products from the coke manufacturing process. Moreover, the Company leveraged its rich industry insight and embarked on the manufacture of niche thermal power plant accessories, riding the attractive growth arising from this industry segment. A company that entered one business space in 1965 is present across six business spaces in 2010. Besides, the Company acquired the erstwhile unit of APV Texmaco (now Bengal Tools Ltd) focusing more on turnkey responsibilities. In doing so, a company that started off as a modest engineering manufacturing unit in the mid Sixties, has evolved into a specialized engineering solutions provider, leveraging its near-fifty year engineering expertise. During this long journey of over four decades, the Company has emerged as a respected light-to-medium engineering organisation engaged in the turnkey management of material handling and coal-chemical projects on the one hand as well as a company evolving from a principal focus on jobbing to a growing proportion of turnkey projects management, on the other. Going ahead, we expect to graduate from jobbing and turnkey projects to EPC assignments, enhancing our contract sizes, strengthening our brand and emerging as one of the fastest-growing engineering companies in India. |
